Celebrity endorsement

If Kris Aquino can endorse feminine wash, why not Baron Geisler for Red Horse? Iyon ang tunay na LAKAS TAMA!

Dumbest ever

You know Coke is in trouble when they are desperate enough to come up with this lame attempt to be "hip". It is probably the dumbest TV ad for at least the last 10 years. What were these guys thinking? I swear, this TV ad is giving me hyper-acidity. Someone hand me a bottle of C2 iced tea.

No buns

KFC Double Down sandwich So KFC has recently announced that it has made a breakthrough in sandwich technology -- a bread-less meat sandwich. Imagine that!  But questions:  1. Is this still technically a sandwich?  2. Was the UN and/or NATO informed about this new development?  3. Is this not a violation of a charter in the Geneva convention? Notice that in the TV ad launching this new product, you have MEN doing the spiel. But of course, KFC is no fool. This product is an action movie without a believable plot. A sports highlight reel without the boring parts. This is sex without foreplay. In other words, MEN will love it! And yes, I am now curious enough to want to try it. :)

Another brilliant ad from FB

Image
ad from Facebook Found another brilliant advertisement on my Facebook this morning. This must be from the same folks who created the videoke scoring mechanism that comments on mediocre efforts as "just a fun!" For the love of Shakespeare and all that is proper and correct, I really don't mind that that copy is so uninspired, but at least get the grammar straight.  I fear that the internet is killing English. Check out the Yahoo news articles. Either the standards have been lowered to meet the "on-time" demand of the new medium, or these people are using an automatic translator yet to be perfected. Either way, it's just wrong. Is jejemonism  now a world menace?

How I would've done it

one more Facebook ad For once, I have nothing bad to say about a Facebook ad. You gotta feel for the guy, in fact. I am referring to whoever wrote the ad. It's hard writing copy for something so "inappropriate". The ad, I am assuming is for a lending service, is pretty straightforward and direct. It's clinical and thus does not offend. Far better than how I would've done it. I'd get me a close up picture of a man distraught and hanging onto the very last thread of sanity. Caption below in large Arial bold font would be "UTANG NA UTANG KA NA BA?" That'd get a few clicks.

one more Facebook ad ... is undone in Guam.

Just a fun

Another FB ad. Yes ladies, do sign up! Very nice English not required, apparently.

Video chat is on Facebook

Image
As you can see from the ad above, Facebook is offering a new application to its millions of users. I'm sure this is going to be another hit.  But, ahm, maybe it's not for me. Hey, I'm the guy who has his chat box locked in invisi mode. That's just who I am. I have nothing against people who will use it though. People who have family and loved ones abroad, this is very good news! I say go for it. In fact, looking at that ad, even I nearly went for it. Clicked on the thingy and almost registered. But doing that led me to another page. And the girl above disappeared. Oh, she's not part of the service? I want to video chat with her! And no one else. Suddenly, it dawned on me, I don't have FB friends that cute.

Angel's longest relationship

Image
photo from here Anyone else find it pathetic that Angel Locsin's longest relationship has been to her shampoo? The thought never even entered my mind. That is until she came up with the new shampoo commercial. Five years! Yeah that's a long time. But Angel, shampoos do not count! Try that with a boyfriend. What? Tonight, you are having a 5th anniversary dinner celebration with a bottle of your shampoo?

My San Miguel ad

Image
It is only because I love San Miguel Pale Pilsen too much, and I do not want it to suffer the same fate as my other love, Winston Reds, that I am doing this for free. If someone can get the word out, and pass the message to the people at McCann Erickson (are they still handling San Miguel?), please do so. Product positioning. I heard that San Miguel Pale Pilsen has been suffering in sales in recent years. The reason why it is getting harder and harder to find it in the cheaper carinderia cum restobars (my favorite hangout). The younger consumers think San Miguel Pale Pilsen is "daddy's beer". That McCann would "idiotly" (if that is even an adverb) continue with the "isang platitong mani" ads, which is Bay Elorde vintage, does not help. What are you thinking? The joke was funny the first few times. It is no longer funny now. Come up with new material. You are not getting paid to just re-state the same thing over and over again. My take on ...
