More Chikka Minute

Like the proverbial turd that simply won't flush, Willie is back -- and back with a vengeance. And on prime-time too. WTF?!

Reading the Inquirer news today, I've come to the sad conclusion that we are doomed to elect this idiot as president someday, or at least senator, given that Willing-Willie's rating is fast catching up to 24 Oras -- the top rating hardcore news on the same prime-time slot.

So ok, even if 24 Oras is more tabloid than broadsheet news. Whatever. News is still news. How can the average Juan and Juanna dela Cruz prefer something totally brainless over information that concern their lives? Are we, as a people, all brain-dead?

Wake up people!

And shame on you TV5! Pandering to the least common denominator instead of catering to our greatest common factor. May you all suffer perpetual boils on your asses until you rid your airtime off this scourge to our collective psyche.

As for GMA-7, I am giving you permission to fire all your cannons to fight this menace. If it means more Chikka Minute, then so be it.

  1. True, true, true.

While commercials were on, I switched to TV5 just to see how Willing-Willie is like, and they just said their ratings were slowly catching up. My brother quickly quipped, "Eh siyempre, balita ang kalaban sa timeslot... siyempre mas gugustuhin ng masa ang ganyan."

I found it very funny for them to hire Shalani Soledad as a co-host. She wasn't lively enough to carry a variety show, but then again, maybe Willie wanted a co-host na hindi siya sasapawan, and someone who can help boost the ratings.

24 Oras more of a tabloid than a broadsheet.. I couldn't agree more.

  2. I was thinking of maybe boycotting TV5, only I realized that I DON'T watch TV5 in the first place. Haha.

  3. Dear merciful heavens! Is this for real? I had to ask since I don't watch TV anymore exactly because of this reason.

The TV stations are treating their audience as just a brainless collective not much different from mishandling a sack of rotten tomatoes.

  4. Religion is no longer the opiate of the masses. Showbiz is. A hundred years ago, the friars didn't want to educate the Indios to keep them in check. Today, it is TV5's turn to sell crack to dumb masses.

And here I was thinking and thankful that Jobert Sucaldito had lanced that boil on the armpit of Philippine TV once and for all. Apparently, he failed to dig out the eye.

Boycott TV5? No. That would only give this third-rate station more attention. I say we boycott ALL PRODUCTS that advertises on Willing-Willie.

Spread the word. It is up to each one of us to fight this fight. TV5 wants to sell crack to your kids. Are you going to let it? Just say "Hell, no fcuking way, NO!"

  5. it's not as if the media hasn't been selling crack to everyone since the dawn of reality TV. the thing is, TV5 has a different variety/flavor of crack as opposed to the other big networks on the same timeslot. genius, really, if you think about it. since they can't possibly beat mike enriquez or noli de castro with news at the same time, they throw in willie and the myriad of gyrating gals. good job, TV5. your ratings might soar, but you are scum.

talk about tabloid news, doesn't every news outfit in the country do it, print or broadcast media? just listen to the way people read headlines, or see what ends up on front page. i don't think there can ever be objective reporting anywhere, the media is still a business afterall.

  6. May premyo kaya sa 24 Oras kapag may texter na nakasagot nang tama kung ano ang pangalan ng latest OFW na nagpakamatay?:)

Maga-advertise kaya si Mike Enriquez on cam ng Likas Papaya?

  7. Actually, Mike Enriquez advertises (shamelessly) on air on his morning radio news program (on DZBB?). Namputcha yan, minsan, sabihin pa namang napaka bilis ng GLOBE TATTOO! He sold his credibility on that one. I hope, for his sake, it was worth it.
