About me (1)

This should have been done at the start of the blog. And apparently is now the trend with my ka-bloggers. So let me share something really personal about myself. But let me do it one item at a time.

First thing about me (favorite food):

(1) My most favorite meal in the world would be fried to a crisp tinapa served with tahong stewed in sprite, and of course steaming hot plain rice. The entire meal would roughly cost no more than 30 pesos per person. That this is so cheap is one of those things that makes me believe God is fair. You do not need Bill Gates' salary to enjoy the most glorious meal in the world. I've had caviar, lobster, and 1,000 Php steaks. If I have to choose just one meal to eat everyday for the rest of my life, believe me, I'd choose my tinapa, tahong and plain rice.

  1. I also love tahong stewed in Sprite. Naks stewed. Arte lang. Hehehe. Pero yeah, i love that too. But I don't appreciate eating it with fried fish. I tried it once, naguguluhan ako. Sanay kasi ko na isang ulam lang eh. Hahaha!

  2. I don't know if I should say what my favorite breakfast dish is. I might get banned for the mere mention of it. Nyahahaha!!!

  3. But if I'll have tahong stewed or blanched in anything carbonated, I prefer 7-up. Sprite seems too sweet to the taste. Lol!

  4. Tinapa is reason enough to believe in hope.

  5. -=K=- : Combini! Ano ka ba? Kaya nga may combo meals e. KJ ka naman. And the "arte" is only for the benefit of my international audience. Zynga poker entries are getting hits from all over the universe.

Noz : You are allowed to say that fresh tahong is your favorite breakfast dish. I guessed right, yeah? Just make sure you don't have your breakfast tahong when it is red tide.

Neckromancer: We once a had a Dutch consultant eat with our labor crew on our makeshift barracks (we were doing manual labor work on a davit) galunggong and mungo. He loved it. I explained to him how much the meal costs in euros. He can't believe anyone would go hungry in the Philippines. Mga TAMAD lang talaga ang magugutom sa Pinas.

  6. You got the munggo part right. I survived high school eating a cup of rice and half an order of munggo with tokwa and tinapa for lunch. That's a good way to spend 10 pesos for lunch in 1997-2001.

  7. I love tinapa, too, pero I try not to eat it much kasi napaparami ang kain. :)

ps - Following you now. Geez... I just realized now that I still haven't followed you. Hahahaha.

    Happy weekends.

  8. Oh thanks for following Jenn. I forgot to mention that followers are automatically entered in an electronic raffle to be drawn this Christmas. First prize is a house and lot in Forbes Park Makati. Good luck everyone! :D

  9. @Maester Dondz, Yeah, you probably guessed right...

But of all the tahong dishes i know, I prefer Inihaw na tahong the most... Uling lang ang katapat!!! Pero hindi pwedeng mawala ang toyo at calamansi. Yeah!

@Boss Neckro, my Elementary and High School diet of mainly Mungo for lunch almost every day might've been what made my Rheumatism and Arthritis from dormant to active. :D
    Be careful. Lol.

Yeah, generally, tamad lang talaga mga Pinoy kaya karamihan ay nagugutom. Pwedeng pwede gna naman isisi sa pangulo ang kahirapan kaya bakit sila magtitiyagang maghanap ng makakain sa paligid. LMAO!

Another suggestion: Ensaladang Talbos ng kamote in kikkoman or oyster sauce. Brings a new dimension in Traditional Cooking.

  10. Our family's specialty/favorite is ensaladang talong sa gata (with tomtatos and onions, salt and pepper to taste). Konting daing lang at kanin, talo-talo na.

  11. I also love tinapa, but a thousand-peso (or more, even) steak ain't so bad every so often. :-)

    ReplyDelete
  12. Of course not. Especially the fact you get to eat the thousand peso steaks usually with the right ambience (Aressi at the Subic Bay) and down it with expensive wine -- and of course charged to the client! Haha. I don't mind downing 150 peso beers in a luau at the Grande Island either. Again, so long as the client picks up the tab. Yes, I'm cheap.
