Last names

Do the Finns have problem spelling each others names? Karjalainen, Hämäläinen, Myllyniemi, Sillanpää, Väänänen, Nieminen, etc.

Do the Thais have problem remembering each others names? Supitayaporn, Thanasukolwit, Praphasirirat, Suramongkol, Wattanapanit, etc.

Exactly how many David Tans are there in the world right now?

  1. I dunno Dude... I dunno.

Have you considered Filipino names? Hehehe.
Which reminds me, I once attended an event of the Boy Scouts to which the guest speaker happened to be the current Warden of a famous local jail back at that time.

He specifically pointed out in his speech that he conducted a research wherein he found out that the most common full name of all inmates ever recorded was Juan de la Cruz.

Sadly, he pointed out that the Americans back at the American domination of the Philippines must've used the said name as a monicker for us all based on prison records.

    How sad...

  2. @nozrath: Maybe he just used Ambeth Ocampo's article.

@Don Dee: I believe I remember reading that Thais actually have very short nick names.

  3. No, Neckromancer, I did not. I would have given him credit if I did. You see, my problem with last names (Finns specifically) is that one of our company's clients is for a Finn owned company. It is very hard for me to fill out the visitor's form (for the guards) on account of the client's last name. I actually have to make him write it on the form itself. I can never remember it. It is something like 3 consonants in a row or something like that. :)
